INTRODUCTING
ALIF SOUND SYSTEM
A cutting flow, multilingual and politically-aware lyrics
surfing on a wave of jungle and breakbeat
coming through hypnotic layers of sound... Roaring basses clashing
with sonic scratches...
A visual environment that captures the collapse of lost worlds and
the chaotic advent of worlds to come...
Alif Sound
System's musicians and militants have now been active on the electro-rock
scene for three years.
The original duo comprising VDZ BREAK and MOUDJAHIDIN DU BEAT emerged
from the confrontation of hip hop and free parties. Right from the
start of the millenium, the pair ladled out their broken beats and
reflective words to southern France's hungriest BPM-addicts, and their
musical collaboration became official in 2002 when it took its current
name. They were soon joined by an extra singer and a DJ.
But very soon, such intense music called for a broadening,
and it is more or less unexpectedly that Alif found themselves treading
rock'n'roll ground when the band joined the BURNING HEADS for the
'Electro Punk Tour 2003', which gave them major stage credibility,
and led to the ground-breaking Drum'n'Punk album
" BHASS PROJECT: Never Trust A Punk..." (Yelen Musiques
2004).
They then set off for a long tour across France, drawing an eclectic
public with their varied musical influences.
ALIF mutated into a full Electro-rock outfit, new recruits bringing
yet more consistency to the band. A new album "Rimes Antipersonnelles" will be released in february 2007, and the band will soon hit the
raod again...
